Heather Roberta Lorene Bernier, age 41, of Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia, passed away at the Halifax Infirmary on June 2, 2025. A vibrant and compassionate soul, Heather’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and students whose lives she touched so deeply.
Heather was a dedicated educator and Vice Principal (Teacher) at Leslie Thomas Junior High School, where her passion for education and children shone every day. She had a special gift for connecting with students, particularly those who needed extra support.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Her empathy was unmatched; she had an uncanny ability to make others feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether through a simple conversation or a thoughtful gesture, Heather always made time for those who needed her. Her infectious smile and kind spirit left a lasting impression wherever she went.

Beyond the classroom, Heather embraced life with joy and intention. Weekends were filled with drives to the mall with her children, a Starbucks drink in hand and laughter in the car. She had a passion for beauty and fashion, regularly sharing makeup tips and bonding with her daughters over their “OOTD” (outfit of the day) choices. LuLu Lemon was her go-to brand, and her keen sense of style was matched only by her warmth and positivity.

Sundays were sacred for her and her husband, Jerome — their Costco trips were weekly rituals, small but meaningful moments shared together. She also loved cheering on the boys during their softball games, always showing up as their biggest fan. Friday nights meant family time — pizza, movies, and laughter filling their home.

Heather was always curious, open to new experiences, and enthusiastic about the world around her. Whether it was trying a new dish, exploring a new place, or simply listening to a new idea, her heart and mind were always open. She led by example, teaching her children not just through words, but through the way she lived — with kindness, courage, and love.

She is survived by her loving husband Jerome, cherished daughter Sadie, son Everett, stepdaughter Emillie, and stepson Kaiden. She also leaves behind her devoted mother Debbie (Willigar) Sellons, and her beloved sisters Brittany and Jennifer. In addition to her immediate family, Heather is remembered fondly by many extended relatives, friends, students, and colleagues whose lives she deeply impacted.

Visitation to honour and remember Heather will be held on Sunday, June 8th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Atlantic Funeral Home – Oakridge Chapel, located at 1110 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville.

Heather Bernier lived a life full of grace, generosity, and genuine connection. Her legacy is one of love — for her family, for her students, and for the life she built so beautifully. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
